As a wedding photographer, it’s not very often that I get repeat clients, so when I do it’s such a treat! Former A Twist of Lemon bride Shelby contacted me about doing a one-year anniversary session for her and Jordan, but our schedules weren’t quite lining up, so we hadn’t pegged a date. As luck would have it, we would both be up in Bear Lake, UT the same weekend, and I happened to know of a little lighthouse up there that was begging to be used!
In the car ride to the shore the practically-newlyweds told me some of the things that had happened since their wedding; Jordan has received his pilot’s license (check out their awesome bridal session for some aviation goodness), Shelby is working hard in nursing school and they are enjoying married life with it’s many ups and downs that they get to take together. I’m thinking I need to make follow-ups with my couples a regular thing; sometimes a few posts and pictures on Facebook isn’t enough to really know what’s going on in people’s lives, and it’s wonderful to see how their stories are unfolding. Not only do I love hearing how a couple’s lives are developing, but it’s fascinating to capture the difference in their intimacy, familiarity, and friendship compared to their wedding day — and they were already plenty fine in front of the camera then, believe you me.
I busted out my 35mm film camera along with my digital, and we walked along the shore and grasses, Shelby keeping a close eye out for snakes and being prepared to jump into Jordan’s arms should we happen upon one. So much fun, and so nice to finally schedule a session with these two and not have to reschedule or have it interrupted by rain!
Thanks for thinking of me for your photos again you two, I am amazed by how much your love has grown in only a year. Keep it up and you’ll be unstoppable.
