Good morning, afternoon, and evening everyone, whenever you’re reading this! I’m so glad to be sharing this summer engagement sessions with you, and thrilled to say that it was featured today over at Utah Bride Blog!
Sydney specifically wanted their engagement photos set in an orchard, and she also wanted a canoe, so the beautiful Provo, UT area seemed a great choice for her vision. While she didn’t want the shoot to be overly styled, she wanted to make a “nod to vintage/lover’s lane” look, so she chose to include her mint beach cruising bike and we planned for the couple to share a dessert “picnic” in the canoe. It all came together beautifully, and the couple’s lakeside outfits are a fantastic example of the right way to mix patterns and shades of a chosen color, not to mention intentional layering in both outfits that add visual interest and texture to the images. For more tips on how to choose outfits for photos, visit this page! I’m still swooning over Syd’s amazing shoes and the neutral color palette that will complement their wedding colors.
I have to say too, this shoot was a bit of an adventure. Getting the canoe off of the truck was one thing, getting it back on at the end of the night with barely any light was another. The muddy shoes were worth it though for the magical light over Utah Lake.
One more thing to mention is Syd’s ring: a solitaire oval cut diamond (my absolute favorite!) set in a yellow gold vintage-style band. Peter did a great job choosing that one.
